40 businesses kept online at three days' notice

When the leased lines at St Paul's House in Leeds were about to be cut off, technologywithin had three days to keep around 40 businesses online.

The challenge:

Orega was told with just three days’ notice that the building’s leased lines would be disconnected. The only alternative on offer was an expensive extension of the old service. Around 40 tenants, including law firms, financial services and creative agencies, risked losing internet access overnight.

The solution:

technologywithin partnered with CCS Leeds, which has its own network in the city, and used the existing routing to build an interim connection inside the deadline. The teams then worked with Orega’s IT and operations staff to put the permanent connection in place within the agreed timeline.

From emergency fix to permanent service

The interim connection went live in three working days, a day before the old lines were due to be switched off. The full service followed well within the agreed timeframe, avoiding a costly temporary extension. Orega kept its tenants’ confidence and protected its reputation in a moment that could have caused serious disruption.
